Intraocular Melanoma Treatment
with Brachytherapy

This animated film is aimed at both patients with eye cancer and ophthalmologists. It explains the core procedure of brachytherapy treatment and draws comparison to other available options. It tells the whole storyline from symptoms to discovery to treatment, embedded in the personal story of a protagonist who is passionate about architecture.

To keep the content clear and objective, both the visual and the spoken language are reduced to the most fundamental statements. Still it was important to keep a certain grade of empathy throughout the video. To bring calmness, white space is used generously and the animation moves at a slow pace. The text is spoken in a neutral but warm tone of voice.

The main character is shown in an explorative way. He is engaged in a creative activity that requires fine motor skills and perception of depth during the work on small details. Being involved in his craft, he becomes aware of slight changes in his vision.
